Who We Are
Fern Jones– Founder,
Managing Director, FJCorp. Fern is a portfolio strategist and risk
analyst dedicated to building a sustainable investment practice linking
institutional investors and managers focused on natural infrastructure
(air, land, water, waste and organisms), especially their beneficial
reuse as energy and food resources. She promotes complementary
environmental social and governance strategies. Her 20-year career has
been divided between trading, analytical, research and development
roles with JP Morgan, Banque Paribas, General Motors Asset Management
and MetLife Investments. Fern holds degrees from Yale and MIT, a CFA
charter, and a Financial Risk Manager designation from the Global
Association of Risk Professionals and is Series 7, 24, 55, 63, and 65
securities licensed. She collaborates with other market, technical and
engineering professionals on development initiatives and acts as a
sub-adviser to sustainable asset mangers including investment advisers
and fund managers. In 2008, Fern was engaged to lead the Sustainable
Water Alliance, an initiative of water industry participants and
investors worldwide “to promote the value of water.” Fern also serves
as Treasurer of the Triskeles Foundation, where she guides sustainable,
mission-centric investments.
Pete Byrne –Director, FJCorp. Pete joined FJCorp. in 2009 and works
with clients to uncover issues and craft solutions for clean tech and
sustainable ventures, enabling capable managers to take viable ventures
from concept to successful commercial implementation. He understands
technology, process and execution risk, having spent five years working
with a leading independent equity derivatives specialist on the floor
of the American Stock Exchange, Cohen, and Duffy & McGowan. While
in this role he learned to model risk and also to understand the limits
of model based investing strategies. Pete also experienced the power of
transformational technologies, having operated one of the first
electronic equity derivatives workstations - technology that
transformed the trading world forever. Pete worked with JPMorgan Chase
as a relationship manager assisting HNW investors, successfully
managing client assets of US$450 million. In 2007, Pete joined Herbert
J. Sims, a leading independent project finance focused investment bank
where he worked to build out the firm’s private equity presence in the
infrastructure project finance space. Pete is series 7, 63 and 65
licensed and holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science from Fordham
University focusing on Urban Politics.
